Jurong East isn’t just an interchange between the red and green MRT lines—it’s also home to a variety of delicious and affordable food spots! Whether you’re here for shopping at JEM, Westgate, IMM, or just passing through, there are plenty of must-try places to explore. From hawker delights to budget-friendly cafés, this food hunt will help you eat well without breaking the bank.
Jurong East MRT also marks the beginning of my journey with Jiak Ba Buay, and what better way to kick things off than with a food hunt? In this first stop, I’m exploring some of the best eats near the station. Whether you’re craving a quick bite, a hearty meal, or just looking for a new spot to try, I’ve got you covered. Let’s dive in and discover what’s worth checking out!
1. Pullman Bakery

Located right at the entrance of Jurong East Regional Library, this Japanese bakery and cafe has become a favorite among students, working adults, and even the elderly. With its relaxing atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for studying, reading, or simply unwinding, offering comfortable seating and refreshing air conditioning.
A must-try here is their Hokkaido Curry Bread ($3)—a savory and filling treat with a generous serving of Japanese curry inside. It’s the perfect snack for anyone craving something hearty, and the best part is that it’s available in limited quantities each day, so make sure to grab it while you can! They also offer a variety of freshly baked bread, including Bacon Egg Bread and Yuzu Matcha Croissant, great for a light yet satisfying treat.
For coffee lovers, don’t miss their Signature Siphon Coffee ($4.50). You can choose between the Original or Yirgacheffe options. I went for the Yirgacheffe, a fruity black coffee with a strong, bold flavor—ideal for that much-needed caffeine fix. They also serve Tea, Ice Blended Drinks, and Sodas to complement your meal.

In addition to pastries, the cafe offers a variety of meals, including French Toast, Bagels, Burgers, and Sandwiches, though the prices for meals may be on the higher side. However, the quality of the bread, coffee, and the cozy ambiance make it well worth a visit!
Whether you’re passing through or looking for a place to relax, this cafe provides a welcoming space with delicious food and drinks that you definitely won’t want to miss!

2. Heaven’s Grace Vegetarian Point

Located at Blk 132 coffee shop, Heaven’s Grace Vegetarian Point offers a wide selection of Chinese vegetarian dishes, including vegan-friendly options. The stall is known for its flavorful and affordable meals, with friendly service that keeps customers coming back.
I ordered the vegetarian bee hoon ($3) with one mock meat and one vegetable dish. The bee hoon was moist, not dry, making for a satisfying meal. You can also add another dish (vegetable or mock meat) for $3.60–$3.80.
Beyond economical rice and bee hoon options, the stall also serves zhi char-style vegetarian dishes, offering even more variety for those looking for a heartier meal. Whether you’re a vegetarian or just exploring meat-free options, this is a great place for an affordable and tasty meal.

3. Ba Buông Bánh Mì

Located right opposite Blk 132 Jurong Gateway Coffee Shop, Ba Buông Bánh Mì is a go-to spot for authentic Vietnamese flavors. This stall is takeaway-only, with no designated seating, so you’ll have to find a spot at the nearby coffee shop.
I ordered their bestselling Special Traditional Bánh Mì ($7), and it did not disappoint! Packed with a generous amount of meat and fresh ingredients, the flavors were well-balanced, and the baguette had a nice chewy texture—crispy on the outside, yet not too soft or soggy. This was a satisfying and delicious find, absolutely worth the price!
Their Special Traditional Bánh Mi is the most popular choice, featuring all the classic ingredients: cold cut meats, pâté, pickled vegetables, and coriander. Regulars love how generous they are with the fillings, and it’s even approved by Vietnamese food lovers for its authenticity.

They also serve Vietnamese Coffee and other drinks, a great pairing for the hearty sandwich. If you’re looking for a solid, flavorful Bánh Mi in the area, this is definitely a spot worth checking out!

4. Mun Zuk

For the last stop on our Jurong East MRT food hunt under $10, we visited Mun Zuk (满粥) located at Westgate B2, a congee brand under Li Fang Congee, which has been serving comforting bowls of porridge since 2005. Specializing in thick, Cantonese-style porridge made with a rich collagen broth, their congee is slow-cooked daily for a smooth and comforting texture – Perfect for a comforting, hearty meal!
I ordered the Meatball Sliced Pork Congee (肉丸肉片粥) for $6.40. and it did not disappoint. The porridge was smooth, flavorful, and packed with meaty goodness. For an even heartier meal, you can top up $2.50 for a set that includes soya milk and crispy youtiao (fried dough sticks) – a classic combination that elevates the experience.

Mun Zuk retains its signature classics like Century Egg & Lean Meat Congee and Shredded Chicken Congee while also offering creative fusion options such as Iberico Pork Collar Congee and Sesame Oil Chicken Congee. Whether you’re craving something traditional or a modern twist, there’s a bowl for everyone. Seating is quite limited, with only about 10 small tables, so expect a crowd during peak hours. But if you’re in Jurong East and craving warm, comforting congee, this is definitely a spot I’d return to!
